UniMount
Announced for the Handspring™ Visor™
Oakland,
California, October 4, 1999 - Revolve Design, provider of
the standard in mounting / docking accessories for PalmOS™ handheld
computers, today announced plans to develop a family of products
for the new Handspring™ Visor™ handheld computer. UniMount, the
innovative, top-quality mounting system for the PalmPilot and
PalmIII will soon include specific models designed for the PalmV,
PalmVII, the Symbol SPT 1500 and the Handspring Visor. All models
in the UniMount family include the option for on-board serial
connectivity for vertical-market integration and an innovative
charging system for all PalmOS devices. Additional enhancements
are being designed for the Visor-compatible model to more fully
utilize the capabilities offered by upcoming Springboard modules.
Michael Shawver, president and lead engineer of Revolve Design
said: "We are very excited to be working with Handspring on products
that will provide not only a quality vehicle mount, but also add
to the functionality of the Springboard modules. In an increasingly
mobile world, Revolve Design's goal is to provide solutions to
enhance mobile computing."
"Revolve's solutions have become very useful among handheld users,
and we are glad to have the company working with us to help bring
added benefits to Visor customers," said Ed Colligan, vice-president
of marketing and sales for Handspring, Inc. "We expect the UniMount
products to be highly complimentary to many of the exciting communications-based
expansion products expected next year for our Springboard platform."
UniMount has recently received the Piloteer Magazine's Product
Excellence Award, PalmPower Product of the Year and Tap Magazine's
Top Pick award, and continues to receive rave reviews for it's
quality and functionality.
"The product combines the highest quality engineering with no
small amount of innovation to create a tremendously useful product.
This is an addition to the Palm Computing industry that will help
to proliferate the platform into environments which would otherwise
have remained too hostile to accommodate the technology of hand
held computers."-Piloteer Magazine, Issue IX
UniMount is a modular, upgradeable accessory that has been designed
for use in all types of vehicles and the office. A variety of
mounting options ensures that UniMount is adaptable to any vehicle,
from cars and transport trailers to golf carts and aircraft. UniMount
comes with a built-in desktop stand and also incorporates a patented
on-board Selector System, which provides fast, one-handed access
to data without using the stylus.
Upcoming Springboard modules such as MP3 players, wireless modems,
and GPS receivers, will increase the demand for mobile interface
and docking accessories. Revolve Design is currently expanding
it's critically-lauded line of innovative products to provide
for these needs.
The success of the PalmPilot and PalmIII models of UniMount have
prompted the production of tailored solutions for Palm V, Palm
VII and Symbol SPT1500. Enhancements to the line include an on-board
serial connector that has found great interest in the automotive
and transportation vertical markets. Another enhancement that
will debut in the UniMount, is a rechargeable battery and charger
system for PalmOS devices.
The new Visor-compatible UniMount products will be shipping in
Q3 of 2000 and will be priced to fit a range of markets. UniMount
is sold via resellers worldwide, and directly from the Revolve
